This week despite being bedridden I watched the video on Dariusz Galasinki who measured interview success from their ability to become mouthpieces for the subjects stories. The idea that a conversation about how someone feels can produce data of any sort kind of goes over my head. Critical discourse analysis, is a subject I actually know a bit about though. Anyone looking at my blog can see I am an RPG buff I love DnD and other fantasy board games, and part of that is the role of the Game Master, who looks at social interactions and has to weave and instantaneous story. so in a way I can appeal to the idea of recognizing what someone means when they say something about themselves.
My survey as of this week has evolved from a structured interview to semi-structures, as I want to know the stories my interviewees have (along with the survey takers) surrounding scholarships.
